It's FRIDAY!!!! Today the Fighting SCOTS of Scotland County take the field for the 3rd round of the playoffs. WTG SCOTS!

I am trying to figure out what to make for dinner and prepare to grade papers.... BOO! Tomorrow I get to go to Fayetteville, NC for a workshop on insubordination, teacher evaluation, and other things. I can't wait b/c I am going w/ a cool teacher, Vanessa Lapre, from my building. She and I are also going to make a trek to Raleigh on Dec. 3rd for a workshop on the new Common Core Standards! It shall be fun!!!

It has been a while since I have been on here. WOW! Time has flown. On Thursday, hubby and I will be celebrating 2 months of marriage!!! We've been really busy and work has been crazy! This year I have my hat in so many rings, that I do not know for sure what's going on! I am President of Scotland County Assoc. of Educators, on our School Improvement Team, Treasurer of PTO, AND on the district technology team for my school! Shew, that's a lot! I am also thinking about starting a teaching blog, but I am not 100% sure b/c I do not have the time to do so daily! We shall see how that works out!

It's July 10th and that means it's 60 days away until I get married!!!! WOW, just 2 short months. I better get on the ball w/ somethings! It's going to be crazy around here and I will try to blog the updates of my wedding plans. Somethings are done:

Date is set for 9/10/11
Dress is bought along w/ tiarra
Grooms attire is settled
Matron of Honor and Best Man are decided
Colors are a go
Day of Lady is ready to put her best foot forward
Down to 3 locations.....
Guest list is coming along
Creating music list for the Computer to play!
Reception hall needs booked and paid for-- but that's easy!
Flowers are going to be discussed with a couple florist/friends

Honeymoon Pixie is up are ready to go!
Other items are coming along..... just have to wait and see!

It's back to summer time!!!!!!!

Yes, it's June 22nd and the first FULL day of summer! It also happens to be my lil sister, Design Goddess's birthday!!!! She's thankfully 29 again with 7 years of experience under her belt!

Life in NC has been topsy turvy here! The NC legislature has really put it to education in their latest budget. Teacher assistants, janitors, central office staff and even teachers are being laid off! In my county alone that isn't a good thing. We're the poorest county in the state w/ the HIGHEST unemployment rate and the sixth poorest county in the nation! Laying off just 20 people doesn't help us at all. They are talking upwards to 100+ people being laid off from the school systems. YIKES!

In good news, the fiance and I have set a date!!! It is Sept. 10, 2011. 9-10-11!! WOO HOO!!! We're in planning mode now!!! tee hee!

I am hoping my friends in blog land are having a great summer vacation or at least enjoying the weather after work! I hope you all stay cool and hydrated! I know we will here down in NC! We hadn't been below 95° in a bout a month, and it's only going to get HOTTER!!!!!

Stay safe my friends and I just might have more news to blog about later this week/month. I am really going to work at this blogging bit more! I surely need too!

Wow, the last time I posted I was just a few short days out of school. Today, I just finished up the 2nd day of the new school year! This summer flew by way to fast! This years class looks to shape up nicely! I can't wait! Johnathan is now a 2nd grader. He's getting so big!

This summer I accomplished most of my plans with the exception of the trips to the beach! I didn't get to see it at all. :( Well, there's still time left until Fall starts! LOL

I would like to wish all my blogger friends a great weekend and those who are in the school systems, a great new year!

One Week and four days down!

Today marks one week and four days since I started my summer vacation. Last week I slept most of my time away b/c I was a tad under the weather. This week marked a few things:

Lil guy had a dentist appt. which lead to a perfect exam. The only "concern" was the enamel that didn't form right on his top tooth. Darn those antibiotics for ear infections; however, the dentist didn't seem to alarmed right now.
Thursday brought some errands we had to do. Nothing big, just a hair cut and groceries.
Today brought the car getting serviced, a pedicure for mom, and a celebration for the Assoc. of Educators I belong to here in NC.
Tomorrow might bring a trip to the beach!!!! YEAH US!

Hope all is well in blog land! Hope your last few days of June are relaxing and enjoyable. We're experiencing August heat in June. Over 100° temperatures each days with the heat index. That's also with humidity in the high 90's. Gotta love it! We've been under heat advisories and told to basically stay indoors from 11-7. Oh the joy~

Have a great weekend and 4th of July, for my state side friends, if I do not blog before then!

Summer, Summer, Time.......

Summertime is here and I am so ready to relax and take some time for myself. I really need this time off because of all the sickness, health issues, and other things that have been going on. I am ready to go to the BEACH! Just to sit there and watch the surf roll in and to play with my little guy in the water will be AMAZING!

Summer also brings little guy's vacation to grandma's house x2! He's visiting both set of grandparents this summer. He's so ready to go and see his brothers, great-grandmas, grandmas, grandpas, his aunt, and uncles. He will not want for attention that's for sure.

This will be a great time for mommy to get more rest, relaxation, and time with her significant other. He's been great to little guy and myself. A true blessing!

Yes, that's right! 2.5 days of teaching (well we'll call it that for now)!! Then I have 3 teacher work days! After that, I AM FREE!!! Free for the rest of June, all of July, and part of August! So, I will enjoy all the summer I can get! This year has been challenging, yet, satisfying! I have an awesome principal and curriculum facilitator! Unfortunately, said awesome principal is leaving for the central office to be the Director of Elementary Education! Geesh, I have to break in another new principal! Oh the joy!! I hope this transition to a new principal goes better than the last!!!

So, my plans for summer include:

Trips to the beach
Trip to KY to take lil guy to his grandparents for a visit
Trip to OH to hopefully be home for the Pro Football HOF festival!!
Trips to the beach!!
Oh, and sleeeeepppppppp!!! Not all day, just sleeping in past o'dark 30!

That's right 7 days until testing begins for North Carolina! This is running up on up like a bad storm! My only hope is that my students prepare themselves for the best! I have given them all I can...... now it is time to show what they know!

After testing we have approximately 13 days of school left! YIKES! This year flew!!!

I hope everyone's May started out ok. I am praying for family and friends in TN and KY as they watch the waters recede! I hope everyone there is safe and sound!!

I didn't realize how long it has been..... WOW

March flew by like a Spring wind! I have being either sick, teaching, or finishing up my Master's degree! I am finally finished and will officially graduate in May! Shew! I thought I would never be me w/ a master's degree.

Then came Spring Break and Easter! What a needed break for me, my son, and my students. WE ALL needed a break! Now is GO time! 3 weeks until testing. YIKES! My kids are freaking and I am a little on edge. Thankfully we have weekends. If we didn't, I think we all would be a basket case before May 14th!

This month is busy w/ Spring cleaning, flipping some items bought @ flea markets, and preparing for testing. It's going to be nuts for the next month. Can't wait for it to be over.

May will bring testing, lil man's birthday, Memorial Day Weekend, and 3 weeks left of school after testing! YEAH!!!! Then it will be time for r&r, some travel to the beach, lil man's visits to his grandparents in Kentucky and Ohio. He is so ready to see them and his brothers. It also brings the rite of passage for my oldest step-son (yes I still claim them as mine).! Sam will become a HS graduate in early June!! I am so proud of him and his wise choices he's made. His mom should be very proud of the young man she raised!

Olympic Dreams...

The Olympics have been playing now for a week. We have had some major ups and downs from the opening ceremony's blooper to Shawn White and his coach's little chat before his Victory Lap. All I have to say is that this Winter Olympiad had been AWESOME!!!

I watched the opening ceremonies in awe! I love the technological effects, so 21st Century! I only have been able to watch bits and pieces, but of what I have watched has be AWESOME! I am going to watch the ladies skate this week. That's one part of the Olympics I love, figure skating.

In other news, I finished my last class for my master's in Technology!! I will unofficially graduate at the end of March, with the official diploma arriving at the end of May. I can't wait! 22 months of hard work and determination will finally pay off!!!

NASCAR has also started and I did get to watch some of the Daytona 500. It wasn't too bad; however, the red flag kinda killed it for me.

Down here in NC, we survived an ice storm and a small snow this winter. Both were beautiful while they lasted. Up home, DG and the family have been digging out of snow since Christmas. It's been crazy up there. It seems every weekend they are having 6-12 more inches of snow. Our mom said that they can not even go out into the back yard b/c the snow is too deep. I can't remember a snow this deep since I was 7, and that was over 30 years ago!! FUN FUN FUN!!!

Well, I am off to complete my homework/final project for this last class so that I am able to turn in everything by March 3. I have a lot to do, so I better get a move on!!

Hope everyone has had a great 1st two months of 2010. Mine is getting better!!!

The Pro-Bowl is when????

I was reading news on Yahoo when I received an e-mail from the Browns that the Pro-Bowl was this weekend! What's up with that? I thought it was played after the Super Bowl so that those players have a chance to play too. Craziness is as craziness does. I guess since the Saints are in their first Super Bowl the whole world has gone crazy.... LOL I am so excited that the Saints are in the Super Bowl! Now, for the Browns to get there.

... Oh wait Hell isn't freezing over. Well, I am looking out my window as freezing rain is falling. Is that close enough since I live in NC?

I guess not..... LOL

I hope everyone had a great start to 2010. Mine started out slow. We shall see what the other 11 months hold.

Hello friends of blogland. I finally have a minute or two to blog and to say how much I have missed reading your blogs and posting. It's been a crazy month or two. It's just been crazy!

November ended with nothing much to write about.

December had:

school finishing up for the calendar year
Driving to Ohio for Christmas with DG and the family.
Glad that it wasn't snowing on either way to and from Ohio
Lil guy missed a great snow the day after we left; so much for a snowball fight, even though he had a small one w/ Grandma
The New Year rang in while we were celebrating w/ friends, who will be moving to TN this summer. :(

January so far brought:

A week of reviewing things taught for the nine weeks (5 days for 9 weeks!)
Benchmark testing... always a fun week!
A three day weekend followed by a 3 day work week, followed by another 3 day weekend! (How's that for scheduling!)

I hope all of you are doing well and are having fun while doing it!

Hopefully it won't be a month and a half before my next post! HAHAHAHA

Thanksgiving Day!

Happy Thanksgiving to all family and friends!

I am truly thankful this year. I am 3 months away from obtaining my masters degree. I have a very special significant other in my life who has been a true light where there was dark. I have a wonderful son who is surpassing what's expected of a 1st grader, even though we have other areas to work on. I have a good job w/ good kids and good people to work with! Overall, the health is good; could be better ; however, I am still working on it!

I have a great family and friends who have been very supportive and loving! I wouldn't have made it w/out them! THANKS!

To all my blogging friends, I wish you the happiest of holidays. I will try to blog a tad more the rest of this year. Once the masters is complete, I will be a tad more free!!!

Gone too soon......

Yes, I know that's a title of a song done by Michael Jackson, but this week it fits the news down here. The week of the 12th, one of my former students passed away due to complications of diabetes that no one knew she had. They haven't come out and said what actually made her sugar spike over 12000, but there are a few theories floating around. The week before she took the Flu Mist and then took ill later in the week. By Sunday she was worse, then by Wednesday morning she was gone. From what I was told an autopsy was performed and we won't know when those findings will be released or if they will be.

On the 19th was her viewing, which was also my birthday. The next day they laid her to rest. A sixth grader is way too young to pass. She was a great person deep down and had dreams of wanting to become a doctor. Now, those dreams are gone along with her presence. Many of my former students took it very hard b/c they have been classmates since 1st grade. How do you say good-bye to a friend that you've known most of your life.

Just in the last 4 months, I have had too much loss affect my life. I can't take another loss this year. Please make sure you protect yourself from that dreaded H1N1 by washing your hands or at least using sanitizer. Also, drink hot liquids and gargle w/ salt water or Listerine. Those steps help kill the bacteria that enters your body via the nasal passages, and mouth. I don't want anyone to have to go through what these families are going through losing children to this flu!

I will hopefully be blogging more.... just been very busy w/ school and graduate school. Only 4 more months and 2 classes!!!! Then I will have my masters~!

There's been so much going on in my every so simple, no stress, can't get anything accomplished life over the past few months; that it would be insane for me to apologize for not blogging. Since the end of July, things have been just feet to the ground and I'm off...... literally!

The end of July found me in Ohio for my Aunt Janet's funeral. She's finally free of that ugly disease Cancer! After that, I found out that just a day earlier a May babies 2003 friend of mine lost one of her triplets to Leukemia the day before my Aunt passed. Talk about torture for that family. (Long story)

August found me:

Preparing for a new school year at a new school at a new grade level
Cleaning this said classroom because it was just NASTY!
Having everything up and ready for the first day of school- tough job b/c there was SO MUCH cleaning to be done!
Lil man having a week's vaca in Ohio w/ the folks and DG!
Having the first day of school.... which brings this every so not simple part

First day of school-

---- started out great. Met my students, gave them the rules and we were off to a great start... then around 9:30----

heart starts racing and I am feeling faint Take kids outside for recess... heart still beating like crazy...
another teacher says, go to the nurse. I walk up to her office, she takes my BP it is ok, but not normal. Heart rate.... 140 beats per min. WTH!!!
Sit in her office, chilled, sweating, and well, just not feeling right.
About noon she and the principal rush me to the hospital..... Lucky me!
Get to the hospital, sit in wheel chair, nurse starts vitals.... rips cuff and stuff off me and rushes me to room.

This is where it gets good:

1st EKG 250 BPM---- WTH!
Doc comes in tries some really cool things, but no luck
Doc orders meds, these meds stop the heart to get it back into a rhythm. Talk about scared!
Heart stops for a second and starts right back up.
I get to stay for a couple hours. OH THE JOY!!
No work on the second day of school! WHAT??? Do you really know what you're asking here......
Go to my dr. on Wed. Tells me the following-- no unusual stress, no heavy lifting, and no exercise programs! Oh Darn and I was going to join the gym that day..... NOT!.

Now, for the no stress/exercise/ lifting part that doesn't help any......

Go back to work Thurs and Fri. Then on Fri afternoon.... again something comes up!
I was told, we need you to move schools b/c of numbers.... get this... BY MONDAY! WTH???
I am not to be stressed--- oh ok
I am not to lift heavy stuff-- who's going to do it???
I am not to exercise---- who's going to take the stuff to my new school???
Well, the latter two were taking care of the WONDERFUL maintenance staff @ my school district. They brought it to me. Thankful that one of my teacher friends packed all my stuff in less than an hour... WTG Jodi!
New, school.... no stress.... YEAH RIGHT!

Now, it's September:

The ex leaves for Afghanistan again... lil man is worried and sad
Been trying not to catch that ugly flu virus that's been going around our school....
Cardiologist said my heart is ok, the CVT won't kill me, however got to take it easy!
Started the 3rd to last class for my masters!!!!!!!!
Graduation is getting closer and closer!!!!
Birthday's galore of my friends of this month!! One is turning 40--- sssshhhhhh

October brings:

Trip to OHIO to see DG and family b/c I've been out of HS now for 20 years.... WHAT 20 years how is that possible?????
My birthday and birthday's of many friends
Halloween!!! Last trick-o- treat w/ my best bud, Rachel and her kids. Her hubby has been transferred to Ft. Campbell for Feb. :( Stupid Army!

More to come----- Hopefully I will get some more information out there and quicker this time. I am also on Facebook, MySpace, and I might just look into Twitter...... we shall see!

I am trying to raise funds for these hand-held remotes to improve my student's learning with technology. If you know of anyone who would like to donate or a company that's looking to help a school in need, please forward this information to them. I really did not want to ask via my blog, however I do not have any other outlet to get my word out. I have researched these remotes and they have improved learning by over 80% in a year. My student's would make great growth in Math if I had access to these; however, the cost is to high for just me to purchase them.

Sorrow and Joy

Over the past few days, I had a major loss in my family unit. This evil disease call CANCER took the life of my Godmother/Aunt Janet. She fought a long hard battle. Diagnosed in Oct. 2007 and passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, just 7 days after her birthday. She was 55 or 56. Too young to be taken from her devoted and loving husband and her two incredible boys.

However, I know that she's in heaven with the Lord, Jesus, and the angels. She's probably walking around right now talking to her dad, who she lost back in 1989. Twenty years almost. He passed away on Nov. 14th, 1989; his birthday was to be on Nov. 21st. Ironic isn't it? It also was the day of my first anniversary as a single woman. The date my divorce papers were signed.

I just learned today that a friend, who's triplet girls are 9 days older than my lil guy, lost one of those girls to CANCER! This one they call Leukemia. Only 6 years old and wiser than I this little girl was. She knew so much in the short little time she lived. Her sisters are grieving because they always slept together, now there's this empty space. Her mother, not accepting the fact that one of her first born is gone. Another family separated by a deadly disease!

If anyone has in their family a history of cancer, please request that your doctor take the necessary tests that might just save your life. A colonoscopy, a blood test, a MRI or CAT scan, are all ways to detect early signs.

Our family is requesting donations to be made to St. Jude's in Memphis, TN. This wonderful hospital has done great research and development in Cancer treatments and has cured some children who have walked through their doors, some never walked out, but they had the opportunity to receive top notch medical treatment that they would never had at their home hospitals due to high cost.

Thankfully St. Jude's does not turn away those who are unable to pay. That's where the donations come in. They help pay for those tests, treatments, and even for a place for their parents to stay if they need it.

Maybe your school could do the Math-a-thon. A wonderful way to sharpen math skills and to raise money for the children of St. Jude. You or your family members may never need their services; however, there may just be one child in your county or school district that will. I know in two schools that I taught at did Math-a-thon and raised significant funds for this wonderful hospital. We later found out that two or three children from those districts were at St. Jude's for treatments. What a feeling it was to help someone we didn't even know! To make their life a little more worth living.

My joy is that I know that my aunt and little Izzy are now with God and they are not being tormented by this crazy disease they call CANCER! They are whole again with those they have mourned for just a few or for many years.

God rest your souls, Aunt Janet and Izzy!

This is really scary that our US gov't wants to do this to our people. I do understand that there are people out there w/o insurance; however, let me tell you if the crack heads to were sue happy would for every little tiny thing didn't get their case through the courts, then we wouldn't have the high medical care rates today. Insurance companies are the other problem. I will attest to that.

WE DO NOT NEED GOVERNMENT RAN HEALTH CARE!!!!!

What we do need is some overhaul, cutting back, and sensible solutions. The less government is in your life and mine the better!! How many more freedoms are you going to allow them to take before enough is enough?? What will it take, another American Revolution/ Civil War??

Stop the INSANITY!!!!!!

I haven't been blogging too much b/c I have been busy with school, both the one I teach @ and the one I am attending. Lil man has kept me busy too. He's getting ready for T-ball!!! This should be an exciting adventure. I can't wait to cheer for my boy!

School is winding down. We just finished a monster week of TESTING~~ yes testing once again! I am beginning to agree w/ the kids on this testing crap! Now, we have 2 months before they take the big test! I hate all this pressure on kids today. When are they to be kids????? Oh yeah, when they have time...... well, when is that?????

Anywho, I am tired of all this BS about Obama..... he's an idiot... I see him as the Emperor in his new clothes.... if you can remember what happened in that story.... you get my drift. He's soooo disconnected from the people it's not even funny. In my county we're the poorest, yet we have the highest taxes in the state.....What's up w/ that?

This past school weekend, I learned how to write HTML for web pages. I had so much fun this weekend! This was the best class ever!!!!

My Conservative American Friends who read this blog; I want you to join with me to say HECK NO! to this stimulus package that's going to the Senate next week! Our conservative Republicans in the House stood strong. Now we need to go and call our Senators and tell them:

"WE DO NOT WANT PORK, WE DO NOT WANT FEDERALIZED HEALTH CARE, AND WE DO NOT WANT YOU TO INTERFERE WITH THE AMERICAN DREAM!"

I am so sick and tired of someone saying... well they don't have health care. Growing up, my parents didn't have health care for us children until we were much older, or if they did it was horrible to say the least. We did not go to the doctor for every sniffle, sneeze, or throw up! We used home remedies and by goodness my siblings and I are still ALIVE!!!!

Being a former military wife, I can tell you socialized health care sux! Granted, I was well taken care of, but waiting 2-3 hours with a sick child at the hospital b/c that is where the doctor's are is HELL! Waiting 4-8 hours( or a whole heck a lot longer) in an ER... not much fun either!

Taxes will be raised on all of us; just not the rich! We will suffer like our parents did in the Carter years. Do we want a country that others laugh at or fear? Do we want our freedoms slowly taken away by our gov't. Our forefathers said we need to fear gov't b/c a big gov't is a problem. The less government is in our lives the better we are.

Look at our education system. Crap didn't start falling apart until we got the United States Department of Education (thank you Mr. Carter, NOT!). My parents received a great education. All their class mates could read. Can we say that of our entire graduating class of 2009 in the US???? There are some that can't even read the same books my students, who are gifted, are reading today. I am an educator, yes, but first and foremost, I am a MOM! I want the best for my son. I want him to be able to read as well as his classmates. I don't want to pass a kid on just b/c they are a problem. Could the problem be that he can't read and he's trying to compensate for it???? Makes you think now doesn't it!

I love my country. My grandfather's fought for my right to write this blog. I'll be damned if I let my gov't take those freedoms away from me! It is not right for them to impose their will on us. Do not let them!!!!!

This is what I awoke to on Tuesday morning! 2 - 4 inches of snow on the ground in North Carolina!!! Very beautiful... very nice. School closed!!!
Well, for a teacher's workday anyway. LOL Lil man awoke and said.... "We got snow last night?". I just laughed. We did get out in it and had some fun!!

This is Pepper out in the snow. I bet she thought she would never see this stuff again! LOL

We had a great snowball fight, and of course lil man won! I gave it my best. Gotta love the weather. The kids did not have school Mon, Tues, or Wed. They had their mini-vacation again. Too bad they all had to come back Thursday.... they surely weren't up to it! LOL

Well, the new President is in office. I am giving the first 100 days to see what happens before I pass any judgment. I am not happy..... but if there is anything positive that comes out of the first 100, I will give it a chance....... but until then....

Well, as 2008 comes to a close, I am sitting her reflecting on the ups and downs this year has brought me. 2007 left with a huge bang considering I was asked for a divorce from Afghanistan the day before it rang out.

January and February were just a blur... don't really remember much there b/c of all the emotion whirling around....

In March, I started seeing a gentleman who I thought at one time would possibly become a person more permanent in my life.... that didn't turn out so well.

April brought a move to Laurel Hill- the best decision I ever made. I enjoy my home and it's a comfy place for 2 people.

May brought more strife b/c the ex came home from Afghanistan. Talk about a whirl wind of emotions there. Couldn't even enjoy his homecoming b/c he was such a jerk.
- It also brought me starting my MASTERS!!!

June brought the end of a wonderful school year! Also, brought Johnathan spending almost a whole month with his father!!!! That was enjoyment for me for the most part.

July brought freedom day. No, I am not talking about the Fourth of July, I am talking about July 22nd. The day our divorce was final. A sad day too, but more relief than anything.

August brought a new school year, a new principal, and a whole bunch of new things. Knowing that our team was rock solid, was proof enough for me it was going to be an awesome year!!

Sept. brought problems and other things, however I got through it with a few bumps and bruises.

Oct. brought a 38th birthday and Halloween. It also brought more bumps.... but I got over them.

November, brought one of my friends @ school leaving us. Her decision was difficult, but we all knew she was needed with her family and to be closer to home. We surely miss her... but we know she's happier!

- It also brought a trip home to Ohio for Thanksgiving with the family. I was able to see family and go to my cousin's wedding in VA. There I got to see my Godmother who is suffering from cancer. I am thankful that God gave me the opportunity to go. I love her so!

Now December... WOW where did the year go... Christmas is already over, and the New Year is just a week away. What's up with that? This month has been crazy.... crazy I tell you. I don't which is worse... going to work every day or being home w/ a very strong willed 5 year old. LOL
- This month has also been trying with the passing of two co-workers parent's and a student losing his mother in a car accident. It wasn't the way any of us wanted to start our Christmas season, but we all know that they are not suffering any more and that they are with our Lord in heaven!
- Also it has brought me 4 classes closer to my master's with a 4.0 through 3 classes. We shall see how this last one pans out by mid-January. YEAH ME!

Looking back, I have so much to be thankful for:

Friends: Jodi C, Nicole K, Rachel M, Angela L, Tina S, April W, my classmates and professors, who have understood some of my issues, other friends around the US, and all my virtual friends who have lent me support from afar.

Family: Who have been strong for me while I was weak. Who have given me a lot of support from so far away.

My son: Who through it all has been my sunshine and my strength b/c w/o him I wouldn't have had anything to hold onto with one exception and that is...

My faith and My God. I know he's been holding me through all of this. Good times, bad times, and chaos times, He's been there. I am thankful for him and his grace that he's shown me. I can only hope that 2009 brings me a little closer to standing on my own and being able to be stronger and better for myself and my son!

I know not many people read this blog... but I hope that those who do would send out the link to my blog for others to take a look at.

There are many fundamentally unsound issues w/ the election of B. Obama. First, his tax plans are not feasible. He can't take money from the rich to give it to all those who are "poor" and spend over 10 BILLION dollars in new gov't spending. Can we say double dipping.

Second, with those higher taxes on companies and corporations, who gets in the arse in the end....... YEP you got it right the AMERICAN people. We will pay more at the pump, in the grocery stores, at the clothiers and where ever else we can have prices go up and up and up!!!!

Third, his stance on abortion. I am a pro-life supporter with the exception of incest. He is for abortions up through the 9th month. Now, I know of a few children, one who is a teen and the other is 5 that were born pre-maturely and they are perfectly fine now. How can one say that there isn't life in the womb @ 9 months? To top it all off, if the abortion is botched, he doesn't support medical care for that child..... he wants them left to die.....How FREAKING fair is that??????

Fourth and for most... his lack of respect for women, their station in life and what we can do for our country. He must have forgotten or was never taught that is was the women who went into the workforce in WWII to help make planes, parachutes and the like for the war. Heck, he doesn't even pay the women in his campaign the same as the men. WTF?????

Lastly, do we really want a man who hangs with a terrorist, a biggot, a embezzeler , and was taught by a godless man. He's a Socialist my friends...... do we need to go back to the 30's of the depression..... HELL NO! I am not one who wants to lose my teaching job, beg for food and wonder where in the heck I am going to sleep night to night.
Under him, that's hwat would be happening........

Oh and the free health care.... THAT'S THE BIGGEST CRAP SHOOT IN THE WORLD. Want to wait until you die before you get that cancer treatment, that surgery for your breast cancer, the surgery to save your life by taking out your gall bladder....... that's what you will get..... Personally my health is more important than electing someone b/c he wants to make "CHANGE".... I did that for many years at McDonald's drive thru and all that got me was cold fingers...... Actually research the next 24 hours..... and if you haven't voted... vote AMERICAN.... not CHANGE.

Well, I know I have been absent of the last month or so. Yeah, I know, Go Figure!

Things were getting crazy with school, both the one I teach at and with my masters. Also, trying to keep up on the cooking, cleaning, washing, drying, folding, and putting away. Along with replacing 2 screens in my screen doors. It's been CRAZY I tell you!

The other night I watched the VP debate. I was totally appalled with the moderator due to her lack of doing what a moderator is suppose to do. Next, I was enamored with the candidates responses to most of their questions. I think Joe Biden was totally regurgitating what his partner is saying and not voicing his opinions and beliefs. I think Sarah Palin did an awesome job bringing out the lies, misspoken words, and fallacies of the other ticket. I was not 100% won with her when she was named for the ticket at first, but I feel that she won hands down. Yeah, she gave a shout out! That was pretty cool for those kids to hear about themselves.

I feel Palin will bring the conservative side of the country to McCain. I just can't stomach Obama. He hasn't had any executive experience at all! He's been in the Senate for 3 years. No committee experience, on the campaign trail for the last 2 years, and hasn't ran anything like a city or state. That speaks volumes to me. Even Ronald Regan had experience in running a state.

You can say what you want about CHANGE. Heck, I change my clothes everyday...... what about change? What is the change? How is the change going to come about? What if you can't make the change? Then, what? What's in it for me? NOTHING! There isn't 95% of the taxpayers who will receive a tax break b/c only 75% pay taxes. If those who own business and have corporations are heavily taxed, who do you think they will pass this onto? Anyone????

You got it the consumer!!!!!!!! So, yeah, I might get a tax break from the IRS, but my goods and services cost spike past that cut. So, who is getting screwed now? Yep, that's right..... ME and everyone else in my tax bracket and below $60,000 per year.

Granted, I know there's problems in DC. No kidding!!!!! Maybe if the people of this great nation would stand up and make their representatives and senators work for the people and not for themselves then we would be much better off. I do not like this bail out crap.... It was full of crappy pork! Tax cuts for the beaver corp. WTH??

Well, enough of my rant. I just wanted to put it out there about the debate and how and where people need to stand up for this great nation, their FREEDOMS, and for the soldiers, sailors, and airmen that defend that freedom.

The past two weeks have been fun! I have gone out on a date, went to my weekend of class, and had a colonoscopy done! Talk about a pain in the butt!! The date went ok, the class was good and well the colonoscopy.... good news so far there!

Being divorced hasn't really sunk in I guess. Maybe b/c the jerk was gone for 15 months on deployment to Afghanistan, and I moved out before he came back to the states. Who knows. All I know is, that you can't miss something when you truly never had it in the first place. (Good quote from my friend, Angela).

How are all my blogging friends? I haven't really heard from a lot of you. I know I have been MIA on your blogs too. I apologize.

Well, it's T-minus 17 days before I go back to school. I need to make the best of it! I hope all of you have a wonderful rest of summer!

Well, what was started 8 years ago, was finished yesterday. My marriage is now over. I really don't know how I should feel. On one hand, I am totally ticked off b/c I don't believe in divorce. On the other side, I am glad to be free of the turmoil I have suffered over the last 2 years. I am not 100% guilt free in this, but I wasn't the catalyst either.

Just stopped in to let ya'll know I am alive and kicking. I had many assignments to finish before last weekend's class. Now I have a 4-6 page paper to write for class. UGH!

I haven't done much since school has let out. I have hung out with friends, went out to dinner with them, and cleaned up around here at the house. My lil man is coming home this Sunday and I can't wait!!!!!! He's been w/ his daddy for a month. I can't believe that he stayed that long, but his dad is known to spoil him. UGH!

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I have been busy with my lil man's b-day, school wrapping up, TESTING!!!!!!!!!!, and starting my masters program. Yes, I am finally biting the bullet and starting my masters. I started this weekend with Lesley University @ my school district's high school. It's an awesome program b/c we meet one weekend per month for 22 months. Granted, we will have work in between those times, but it's nothing like having to arrange babysitting for evening classes.

On a good note, school is over June 10th!!!! Lil man will be having his little promotion program next Monday. Then, it's off to Kindergarten!!!! Man, I am feeling the age..... LOL

I am now back online and ready to blog. Things here are still crazy. I am trying to unpack and get settled. Lil man and I are doing just fine on our own. On your own? Yes, on our own. The person who I thought I would be married to forever has turned into a huge jerk. He doesn't want to be married, have a family, but to be alone and have "his time"!

He's been gone for over a year deployed overseas. So, he hasn't really been here anyway. Lil man is really down and out. He just doesn't understand why his daddy isn't going to live us anymore. I just hate it!

My family has been really supportive from all over the country! They have been the back bone I needed over the past few months. THANK YOU!! I have many friends from work and here that are military that are really helping me out! I am so blessed to have them in my life. If it wasn't for them I think I would be going crazy! THANK YOU TOO!!!!

This is my second post that blog buddy,Travis Erwin, inspired his blog buddies to participate in.

I did find an interesting video of my town:

Some points of interest are:
Downtown
City Hall
War Memorial
Saint Louis Church- Where my family attends church and where DG, our brother and I went to elementary school.

Some other interesting facts about my town is that the railroad cuts the city off from the "outside world" if a train is stopped on the north and west ends of town. There have been days when I was stopped by a train and really needed to get on the other side of the tracks to get to work.

There was a time when a fire broke out on the North side of town and none of the fire fighters on that side of town could get to the fire station to get their gear. It was pretty awful. They had to have the guys who could get to the station, get their gear, but the only problem was the fire trucks and ambulances were not able to respond due to the train cutting off the town on both sides. They had to call the Nimishillen Fire Department to assist them until the train moved. There has always been talk about an overpass or something to be done so that this doesn't ever happen again. Like most towns people, we will believe it when we see it! LOL

These same trains lulled me to sleep when they passed through town as I was growing up. I miss those nights when you could feel the bed rock just enough that you were put into a deep sleep. The railroad is what built my town and it will always be an important part of my little town.

Recently, the city had to build a new middle school due to the population growing to the point where the old Jr. High School couldn't handle the amount of children who passed through the halls. I substituted in the old Jr. High, and I am going to miss seeing the inside of that building. The reason? My Great-Aunt Loretta was the Louisville Education Association's Teacher of the Year and her name was displayed there at the entrance on a plaque for everyone to see. At one time, I wanted my name to be right there with hers. That is still my dream one of these days.

This is a shot of one of our downtown store. It's Penny Alley. It's an old five and dime. Granted, there's not much there anymore for 5 or 10 cents, but it's a great store!!

Constitution Town

In 1952, Louisville resident Olga T. Weber petitioned municipal officials to establish Constitution Day, in honor of the ratification of the US Constitution in 1789. Presiding Mayor Gerald A. Romary proclaimed September 17, 1952, as Constitution Day in the city. The following April, Weber requested that the Ohio General Assembly proclaim September 17 as state-wide Constitution Day. Her request was signed into law by Governor Frank J. Lausche.

Weber didn't stop there. In August 1953, she urged the United States Senate to pass a resolution designating September 17-23 as Constitution Week. The Senate and House approved her request and it was signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. On April 15, 1957, the City Council of Louisville declared the city Constitution Town. The Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society later donated four historical markers, located at the four main entrances to the city, explaining Louisville's role as originator of Constitution Day.

The city boldly states that it is the Constitution Town which also resides in Constitution Township!

There are no famous people from my town, but Ohio has produced many entertainers, football players, and TV analysts. Drew Carey, Halle Berry, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, Chris Spielman, and Eddie George.

Things in my life are just as crazy as they were a few months ago. Big man is still gone and Lil man is still driving me nutso. LOL

Also, Big Man is being a Big JERK! (being really nice) Let's just say that Lil man and I are moving in a few months and Big Man is not going w/ us.

Life as I thought it was suppose to be is changing...... maybe for the worse, but I feel it might be for the better.

My cousin stopped by this weekend with a college friend of hers. We had an awesome visit and was chit chatting about our family. Granted our family is pretty big, so we did have a lot to talk about! From my point of view I have 21 cousins to try to stay up on. Not going so well there. I have about 20 2nd cousins to learn names of, and try to put names to faces. This is also not going very well. It's hard when most of our family lives in and around Ohio, and others live in GA, WI, NC, TX, and VA to name a few states that I have family members living.

Could you just imagine the family reunion. We would all have to wear name tags with pictures of our parents just so we knew who we all belonged too. I personally think it would be great b/c then I could catch up with the cousins that are close in age with me and that I know the best and then to try to figure out all those kids..... LOL

Well, the New York Giants pulled off the greatest upset in NFL history! They did it with shear team work and confidence. I tip my hat to them and their MVP, Eli Manning. I can't believe just a short year ago his brother, Payton, was the MVP. Gotta love those Manning brothers!!

Well, my 2007 finished up with a bang. Well, actually a shot through the heart. (figuratively speaking). Some personal things blew up in my face just a few days before ringing in the new year. It sucks, but hey I am dealing. New Year's Eve was spent ringing it in with....... my lil one and myself. That's it! We had no where to go and nothing to do... boo hiss. Anyway, I rang it in, lil man slept through it, and well I guess that says most of it.

New Year's day was spent doing one thing, watching college football bowl games. Pretty impressed with most of the games. My VOLS won!!!!!! I was pretty psyched about that! Poor Badgers had to go home and lick their wounds.

Then it was back to school on the 2nd for teachers......HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY! We socialized, worked on stuff for the kiddos, and then went to lunch. After that it was cleaning of the room, desks, and my desk (which was pretty scary). Things at work are going great. Thankfully I have that part of my life that's in order. Now, to get other aspects of my life back on track...... which track will it be????? Who knows. We shall see!

It's finally the week before Christmas. Has anyone not started their Christmas shopping? I'm raising my hand!! LOL

3 days and a wake up for me until Christmas break starts. I remember when we use to get two full weeks off. Now, I have a week, and 2 days (9 days). What is up with that? I am counting just school days mind you! I don't count the weekends b/c we already have those days off. LOL

My students so need more time off. They are off the scale as of Friday! I think we all need a break!

I know it's been 18 days since my last post, but hey, I do have a life ya know? LOL

Anyway, school has been crazy, lil man is driving me even closer to a cliff, and I have only 2 days to teach this week!! I am very thankful for the timing of Thanksgiving. LOL. My students have been totally off the wall (ok, not all 42 to them, but seriously it seems like it!). I have one student who is insistent on getting in the last word no matter what is being said. Another thinks he's some kind of animal and has to make noises while I teach. I mean give me a freaking break; they are in 5th grade. I know I have heard that times have changed.... REALLY? I couldn't figure that one out. Just ask DG, or SKI, how things were back in school and how our parents would have killed us for talking to a teacher like my students talk to me. There is no respect anymore for any adult in authority. I just don't get it?

BTW, hey DG, have you ever put your number on the DO NOT CALL LIST? It works wonders. But, I see that you have remedied your problem already. I hope they do not call back for the sake of not getting a butt chewing by you! :) LOL

At last my two favorite teams won this weekend~~~ GO VOLS!! and GO BUCKEYES! I am glad the Bucks put a hurting on Michigan. Next weekend, the Vols take on the KY Wildcats. I am not too wild about them traveling to Lexington. Especially since KY was beat again this weekend.

I want to leave you with one last thought. If you fight with God, you will lose in some way, shape. or fashion.

That was the message our pastor gave today.

Sunday is Veteran's Day in the USA. Please remember those who fought for the freedom you enjoy today, both the living and non-living veterans! Even if you don't support the war, please support our troops. They are keeping those who want America to fall out of our backyards!

My grandfathers and husband's grandfather fought in WWII. They are no longer with us, but I remember them on their day for the sacrifices they made so many years ago. Our troops need our support now more than ever. Please don't forget them on this, their special remembrance day!

As I sit here and think about the past year, I wonder just how many lives have I touched or how I lived my life over the past 365 days. I know that being a teacher has its advantages, but I don't know sometimes if I am really reaching anyone. Why you ask? I guess the fulfillment I once felt isn't there anymore. Maybe with my husband gone, and me being the only parent around has something to do with it? Then again, maybe not.

I just wonder, am I being the best I can be, or is there something out there calling me to do bigger and better things. I just don't know.

Lately, I have been second guessing my life's career move. Don't get me wrong, I like what I do and I feel I am good at it, but I don't feel the inspiration as much as I use too. That was until this school year began 2 months ago.

This year, I am in a terrific school, with an awesome administrative team, with great teachers of all types. I feel more at ease then I have in the past year. My school is pretty cool. We have only 4th and 5th grades at our campus. Pre-K -3 are on another campus. What is neat is the principal is over both schools. Pretty neat huh? She is awesome and very supportive. She stands behind her teachers and gives us the best working environment one could ask for. My students are ok. There are some, like with a lot of students these days, that are so lax in their work ethics. They don't care if their homework isn't finished, or if they don't turn something in on time. What the heck ???

Don't they realize that when they get to be my age that there will be deadlines, that meetings need to be attended, that they may have to go out of town on business? If they don't, they can and will lose their well paying jobs. Well, that's if they go to college and spend a couple thousand to go to a good school. I am frustrated with parents who think their "Johnny" can do no wrong. That they are perfect. HA! My mom knew we weren't perfect and that was back in the late 70's and 80's. Just ask her. LOL!

I guess I am trying to say that I wish parents took more interest in their children's lives and made sure they were doing better then they did while they were growing up. I don't want to see our great nation going down the tubes, all b/c parents just don't give a darn anymore.

Well, hubby's 18 days are now complete and he's heading back to work. It was good having him here event hough it was a short visit. Lil man and I are off school today so that we could take daddy to the airport. It was nice to be able to sit with him at the gate. Now, we have another 7.5 short months until his return. I can only hope they fly as fast as the first 7.5 did.

Lil man and I will be hanging out today and getting ready for an early day tomorrow. I have a field trip with my students to

. We have to be at school at 6:45 AM! That means lil man arising around 5:45. That's 30 minutes earlier than normal. (think of me when I have to wake him in the AM). LOL

I hope all is well with my blog friends. Hopefully all your teams won this weekend. I know my favorite college team did!!!! Hubby was excited that the Dallas Cowboys won in great fashion last night!

BTW GO INDIANS!!!!!!

Well, the first week is down in the books. It was a pretty good week I might say. The only thing that totally bit was that Lil man got sick this morning and we didn't get to school. BUMMER!!! Anyway, I am hoping that he gets to feeling better soon. He's not a very happy camper.

A holiday weekend this weekend, so that means I am cleaning up the house and getting ready for hubby to come home for his break. I know lil man will love to see him and so will mommy!

Well, at least it's catchy. School starts next Monday for my lil man and myself. I can't believe he's going to Pre-K. SNIFF! :( I have been in meetings for the past 2 days and I am going crazy b/c my room is no where near ready. I basically have 8 hours to be done! HELP!!!!!

On a better note, lil man is getting excited, yet apprehensive about going to his BIG school. He told my friend today that he didn't want to go to the big school. He liked his little school. Well, I can't help him there. I guess I am upset too b/c I will not be able to walk him to his classroom on his first day of school. Bummer. I drop him off so I can greet my students on their first day of 5th grade.

Well, I will post more when I can. BTW Football season is gearing up too!!!! GO VOLS and GO BROWNS!!!!

Trip to Ohio and HOF!!

I figured I would post the long awaited pics of my trip to Ohio so that Gareth didn't eat himself into oblivion on popcorn!!! LOL

Well, I am not sure what to make of this mountain, but it does look kinda like..... well you use your imagination. It's in North Carolina

Next, I had to go past the capitol building in Charleston, WV. It sure looks like a capitol building!!!

My trip consisted of me visiting a few old friends, seeing my grandmother, going to the National Ribs Burnoff at the fairgrounds (DG and I sampled some really good pulled pork sandwiches,cool strawberry smoothies, and I had some New Orleans cuisine that I missed so!) , and catching up on some rest (yeah right my little man kicked me every night!! )

Then, on Saturday, August 4th, we, attended the Hall of Fame Grand Parade. Here are a few things we saw during our almost 2 hours of standing..... next time we get there a little earlier and find some grass to sit down on! Right DG??

The greatest football players are why everyone was in Canton for this past week. This is an annual celebration of the greats of Professional football.

I never saw a pickle fly.

Oscar the Grouch came flying by too!!! Wonder if his elephant is in that trash can?? hmmmmm

A flying birthday cake??? This was the balloon for the 100th Birthday of President William McKinley. He hailed from Canton, Ohio

Now, I finally have proof that pigs do fly!!!!

DG and some really cute lil boy!!!!

The Coors Light Silver Bullet came to town. But it didn't bring those wonderful cool breezes and frost like in the commercials. I also didn't receive a Coors Light sample either. I was really bummed.

That same cute little boy with his mommy. Wonder who they are???? They look really happy!!

After the parade, DG, my son, and I left for glorious home and went swimming later that afternoon. I had a great time at home and hope to be able to do it again!!

This is the famous place that all football greats want to end up. This is a great place to visit if you love football. There are now 16 of my beloved Browns now enshrined in Bronze here!

Blah-

I love summer weather, but the humidity doesn't like me. Today I have felt very yucky. My stomach is aching and head is spinning.

Anyway, I get to go home to Ohio next week. I can't wait to see my little man! We're going to go to the Pro-football Hall of Fame festivities!! I can't wait. It's been 7 years since my last time to go to the festival. Pro Football HOF

HAPPY DANCE!!

This is me because my lil man is with his grandparents and his Auntie DG!! Sleeping in hasn't been this much fun since high school or college!!! I do feel for them b/c he's been a bear off and on.

On other news, I have an interview today for a new school. I am hoping that I am able to work there or somewhere other than where I am now. I really need a change. Something better for me! Keep your fingers crossed.

Big man is still out of town for work. It's really taking the toll on my lil man. I just wish he could talk to his daddy more, but that's impossible because of what his job entails right now. :(

Happy Fouth of July to all!

I hope that all of you are having a good summer or winter (depending on where you are in the world!) I am enjoying some peace and quiet for a couple weeks. My lil man is with his grandparents and DG in Ohio. Now, is the time for cleaning out the kids room and the house for that matter of all this JUNK we've accumulated over the past few years.

Well, for those who do not celebrate the 4th of July like we do here in America, I want to wish you a wonderful month of July and hope that it is safe and relaxing for you!

Surgery and Such

Well, Wednesday was the big day. I had a diagnostic laparoscopy done on my abdomen. Things looked good to the doctor and he didn't find anything terribly wrong with me. He did find some scar tissue and got it out of the body!!! YEAH!!!!

My parents are here taking care of me and lil man. Glad for that b/c Wednesday night was horrible.... couldn't get comfortable, couldn't get the gas out of the body, and I hurt everywhere!!! I would have been a wreck had they not been here.

Today I think we're going to downtown to look around. I think it will be fun! We shall see.

Hey all, school is over!!! I still have 3-4 days of work to do but it will be without.... KIDS!!!!! Can you see that I am excited. Now for the routines and such to get done at work! On Friday, I have pre-op blood work and such to do. YUCK! I have surgery (exploratory) on the 20th. Just to see why I am having so much pain in my abdomen. LUCKY ME!

I will post more when I have a little more time. I still have some junk to do around this house. I can't wait to have time to CLEAN!!!!!

* Only 4.5 days of school left- This week will be basically glorified babysitting.... but who cares we're getting paid the big bucks!! (YEAH RIGHT!)

* Lil man's birthday and Memorial Day will be rememberable thanks to his Auntie DG!

* Student with sickle cell is doing well now. It was touch and go there a while back.

* Lil Sis's visit was fantastic!

* Big man is adjusting to his enviornment for work

* My back is sunburnt and man is it peeling!!! OUCH!

* Life in NC is great. Sunny days, close to the beach, and warm days!!

Today I found out that one of my students, whose name will not be mentioned, was rushed to Duke University Hospital earlier this week. She is suffering from Sickle Cell Anemia, and she's been real sick this school year. She has missed a ton of days. It's been really bad.

I am upset because she's a beautiful young lady and has a loving heart. She wants to grow up to be a doctor of Sickle Cell. I applaud her for wanting to do so and I hope she will have the chance to succeed.

Please offer your prayers and thoughts for this young lady. I know her family would really appreciate it and I will too.

TAX DAY---WELL ALMOST!

Well, here in the states today would actually mark TAX DAY! The day that all good
American ladies and men would send in their tax returns for the previous year. Thankfully, the beloved IRS saw it fit to extend it by a couple days b/c the 15th falls on a Sunday. So, those of you who are procastinators like myself- mine are actually done and sent in already this year!!!, please get those pesky things done and postmarked before midnight Tuesday your local time!

Today is a mixed bag day. Sun, clouds, rain, and your occasional wind blast. Went to church today for the third week in a row!! I am proud of myself. Today they invited me and lil man to lunch. It was good to talk to other adults finally!

Today is also known as Humor Sunday. The celebration of God's huge practical joke on the Devil. God allowed his son to be crucified and buried. One the third day he arose from the dead. Satan thought he won on Friday, but was discouraged on Sunday when Jesus arose.

I haven't seen the doctor yet about my CT scan, but when I do I will let all of you know.

Lil man is doing well. He's getting so big. He's so smart too. When I ask him what day we go to church? He replies, "Sunday!" Some 4 year olds don't know exactly which day it is, but he does.

Well, I am on spring break!! YEAH! Lil man is going to school part time while mommy is able to do errands, doctors appointments, etc. The weather is great (for now) and I am getting things done around the house! GO ME!

Well, one month plus down, 10-12 more to go. Hubby is gone downrange and he's doing well. Being a pain in the rear is a nice way of putting it. Why do men always have to think they are superior to us eventhough they totally stink at some things. (** not all men are included here**)

I just wish that one day here in the next two or so weeks, he will totally wake up and smell the coffee. Those who know the situation understand. If you want to know, let me know and I will e-mail you.... depends... if I am up to it or not. hehe

Anway, today was a beautiful spring day and lil man and I went to an Easter Egg Hunt!! He had a blast. The temps were nice and the sky was filled with sun!! I am so happy to see Spring!

After the next 4 days, I will be on Spring Break!!!!! Ah, can we say relax!!!

YEAH RIGHT! Today was my first day back in a week. I had that awful nasty flu or something. Being dizzy and light headed was not fun and I hated it! Tomorrow will mark that big man has been gone a month :(. There are some unfinished feelings I have been sorting through b/c this is a long separation and I can't really talk to him when I wan too.

Communication has been good so far. He's tried to call when he can, but I really worry about lil man and his missing of his daddy.

School today was fair. I ended up with a killer headache. UGH! Wish it would go away!!!!

Go marching into the NFC Championship game. I still can't believe that the Saints are going to be in the NFC Championship game tomorrow. It's hard to believe I know it's true! Just a year or so ago, they almost lost their home to Hurricane Katrina and to those who were left behind to stay there during the storm. Thankfully the Super Dome was saved!

It's great news for the State of Louisiana. Maybe they will be in the Super Bowl. That would really be the NEWS OF THE DAY!

I am rooting for them only b/c I do not like the Bears. The other team I am rooting for is the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship game. They are playing the Patriots and I feel the wealth needs to be spread. They have already been to the Super Bowl. Let another team gleam in the lime light.

When listening to the radio this morning, I realized that the DJ was pretty lame. The reason? They were debating why in Las Vegas were they using 2-007 as there theme. Well, they were celebrating -007 (James Bond). I thought it was pretty cool advertising, but while listening I could see why they thought it was lame too.

Anyway, we went back to school on Tuesday. So far, my kiddos are doing OK. I am just tired and not really wanting to go into school yet! LOL. I was actually enjoying sleeping in!

Things here in NC are going well. Lil man was spoiled for Christmas, and I enjoyed being home w/ him.

It is Christmas Eve and we're preparing for Santa Claus to make his trip down our chimney. This is the first year we have had a Chimney in our home. Lil man is getting so excited.

Teach the Children about the real meaning of Christmas

True Meaning of Christmas

Just a week before Christmas I had a visitor. This is how it happened. I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed, when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door to the front room and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out next to the fireplace.
"What are you doing?" I started to ask. The words choked up in my throat and I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone was the eager, boisterous soul we all know. He then answered me with a simple statement . . ."TEACH THE CHILDREN!"

I was puzzled. What did he mean? He anticipated my question and with one quick movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree. As I stood bewildered, Santa said, "Teach the children!Teach them the old meaning of Christmas. The meaning that now-a-days Christmas has forgotten.

"Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it before the mantle. "Teach the children that the pure green color of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of mankind, all the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's thoughts turning toward heaven."

He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR. "Teach the children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Savior for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of His promise."

He then reached into his bag and pulled out a CANDLE. "Teach the children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness."

Once again he reached into his bag and removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree. "Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real nature of love. Real love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection."

He then pulled from his bag an ORNAMENT of himself. "Teach the children that I, Santa Claus, symbolize the generosity and good will we feel during the month of December."

He then brought out a HOLLY LEAF. "Teach the children that the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Savior. The red holly berries represent the blood shed by Him.

Next he pulled from his bag a GIFT and said, "Teach the children that God so loved the world that he gave his begotten son." Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a CANDY CANE and hung it on the tree. "Teach the children that the candy cane represents the shepherds' crook. The crook on the staff helps to bring back strayed sheep to the flock. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brother's keeper."

He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL. "Teach the children that it was the angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Savior's birth. The angels sang Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace and good will toward men."

Suddenly I heard a soft twinkling sound, and from his bag he pulled out a BELL,. "Teach the children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it should ring mankind to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance and return.

Santa looked back and was pleased. He looked back at me and I saw that the twinkle was back in his eyes.
